Mesozoic Imaginations
As children we have a fanciful view of the world that is not an adult reality. The creative play that consumed our time and interest rarely returns to us. As a child I would play with my toys for hours in deep imagination. The toys and my imagination were as real to me as anything. The world I immersed myself in was vivid, colorful, and exciting. I loved learning about dinosaurs, wishing they were real when I played with them.
In my image series, “Mesozoic Imaginations,” I am re-exploring my youthful imagination through toy dinosaurs. While making my images I found a special spark of excitement from playing creator. I feel that these dinosaur scenes have a playful tone, the same as if I had been a child. The artistic process brings me much closer to my childhood imagination than most.
